And a few more books this March...

Image result for gone coverIn the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young.

There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your 15th birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

I read this on recommendation and it was pretty good. Not really my type of book, but still a good one. Good story, good writing. Unique and interesting with great characters. I'd definitely recommend this to YA sci-fi lovers.

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires - the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger . . . and the Strigoi are always close by.

Rose and Lissa must navigate their dangerous world, confront the temptations of forbidden love, and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead make Lissa one of them forever . . .

I watched the movie for this first, I am ashamed to say. I was never planning on reading it, but then I saw that the movie had Dominic Sherwood and Zoey Deutch in it and so I had to watch it.
Then, I liked it more than I thought I would, so when I saw the book in a charity shop I bought it!
It was well told, with great characters and plot, and although the whole Vampire School thing is pretty cliche, this book was still pretty good. (I like the movie more though. You can't not, with those two in it!)

Six unforgettable kids — with no families, no homes — are running for their lives. Max Ride and her best friends have the ability to fly. And that's just the beginning of their amazing powers. But they don't know where they come from, who's hunting them, why they are different from all other humans... and if they're meant to save mankind — or destroy it.
Again, I watched the movie first. Forgive me.
Sooooo... Basically, Maximum Ride had been on my to-read list for a while, but then I read a couple other James Patterson books and they weren't very good. (Witch and Wizard. A crap series. I read the first two. Just don't.) Anyways, my friend and I saw it on NETFLIX (angels singing) and both of us confessed that we had meant to read it a while ago. So we watched the movie. I know, I know, hate on me.
Then another friend of mine said she loved this series, and I was at the library, and the book was right behind me on the shelf... So I borrowed it, obviously.
It wasn't written that well, to be honest, but it was okay. The movie only covered like half the book so I got to find out some more. I liked some of it but overall I'd say not such a good book. Hey, the plot's not so bad, but a lot of it is quite weak. Anyways, I like Angel, she's pretty cool. And I liked it when Nudge went veggie but Max was being a total bitch about it. Seriously though, she should have gone vegan. Like being a veggie is enough (scoffs).
So overall, not my type of book, but gove it a go if you want.
